ABC’s Bob Woodruff to Speak at
Saint Barnabas Medical Center Free Community Event

Bob Woodruff

Livingston, NJ –Just a month after being named co-anchor of ABCs World News Tonight, Bob Woodruff became the first American news anchor to be injured in a war zone when he was nearly killed by a roadside bomb while reporting in Iraq on U.S. and Iraqi security forces in January 2006.  In the year that followed, Mr. Woodruff recovered from his injuries and with his wife Lee released In an Instant: A Family Journey of Love, Courage and Healing – their personal memoir about his recovery.

On Monday, October 20, 2008, Saint Barnabas Medical Center invites community members to a special presentation with Mr. Woodruff entitled Journey from Iraq… The Path to Wellness.  The free presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. sharp and be held at Richard J. Codey Arena at South Mountain, located at 560 Northfield Avenue in West Orange, N.J.

Mr. Woodruff will recount the events preceding and following the life-altering experience, describing his new perspective on career, family and health care, and how he coped and overcame difficult circumstances.

As part of the evening, a selection of submissions from grateful community members to the “I Love My Doctor” Campaign also will be read, and recognized physicians will be honored.

The evening will serve as the kick-off of “We Are Saint Barnabas!”, a week-long celebration of the hard work and dedication by all those involved in the Saint Barnabas Medical Center family and showcase the vital role that the hospital plays in the community.
